No tricks. Check my video to see how I go about it. Sharp chain is important.http://www.pinkbike.com/video/105021/

It is pretty tame, but it's a blue trail on a resort so I think they make it standard to have ride-arounds on their stunted blue trails. I think they close the stunt, but not the trail, if it's wet as well.

With 7+ horsepower, it'll barely need a chain to cut the trees around here!!

christo, it's going to get replaced with a rollercoaster -> rollable tabletop (jumpable if you have the zest). Should be wider, more well built, more aesthetically pleasing, and a little more challenging while being safer at the same time.

I'd expect the snow to melt before turkey weekend...

Obee1 did the artwork - I just made them into a sign. I also have a "Builder at Work" sign that I put up when I'm working as I've had a few too many close encounters!

This album is of one trail. It's a resurrection of an abandoned trail that never got finished. Currently it's been about 11 months since I started work on this trail and I've put somewhere in the vicinity of 300 hours into it so far. It'll take at least another year to get this one to where I would like it.

Depends on the saw. Probably 12" for the very small saws and likely 16" for the big saws.

They're great saws. Anyone who says otherwise is blinded by their brand loyalty.

It's roomier than it looks in the pic, but some of those are dead standing so we'll see.

Nice work! This kind of work never gets any of the glory in the trailbuilding world, though its as much or more important that any wood structure is.

We could split these up to ~3 feet, but there's a whole lot more waste when doing so.

No idea, really. It's not the actual cutting that takes much time, it's finding the right blowdown, de-limbing it, cutting it to length, draggin it to the work area, setting it up, THEN you get to start slicing and dicing.

I could take video of me doing it, but it really wouldn't do justice for how much work the whole process really takes. I think I was in the trail for 5 or 6 hours...

The yellow line is painted on top of the trees. It's a new style of bike riding where you arent allowed to look at the trail. A GPS unit that will be sync'd with your ipod will give you voice commands for obstacles and to monitor your instantaneous speed.

Please don't tell me you guys are drinking the mix-gas from the JD bottle. Jesus f*cked up Christ. No wonder I run out so fast. You guys should likely get yourselves checked out.

I'll trade ya 3 super pil's, a bent Norco derailler hanger, and two zip ties for two custom paint jobs! hahaha. This is the only spot we really took pics...so many good ops off of Timber, but we just never stopped!

Je-heebus...what, do you wrap you legs in friggin sandpaper? You need some of that plastic wrap that they put on your truck. I have a wee sheet of it if you want...definitely enough to cover that..

Heh...I have a D521 ceramic that I got used in 2001 that is still running great. No idea how old it really is, but it's still true! By far the most under-rated rim ever, IMO. If I didn't need big tires to make up for my lack of skill, I'd run them on my DH bike. Theyre just a bit narrow for the bigger rubbers...I run them on my "XC" bike, though.
